Redbubble is an online print on demand site that
designers can upload their artistic creations and sell to interested members of
the public. The merchandise can include anything from tote bags, t-shirts,
phone cases, stickers, notebooks, etc. The designers earn royalties from the sale of their creations and then
they receive a percentage of the profit and the rest of the funds account for
the fee paid to Redbubble and the manufacture of the merchandise.
Ø On Redbubble you can actually set the markup for your royalty on
each products, on most websites it is between 10 and 20% of the retail price
that is paid to you.
At the end of each payment cycle, Redbubble transfer your earnings to your
PayPal account.
Ø If you were wondering how “easy” or “fast” money can be made on
that type of website, the anwser is “It takes a lot of time”.
It’s a lot of hard work, a crap load of promotion and hours spend of a day
working on your art, your brand, and getting that recognition that might lead
to just a few sales a month.
Ø I know many argue that it’s not worth the hassle, I on the other
hand think it really depends what your expectations are.
If you expect quick and easy money from a passive income, look elsewhere, it’s
not going to happen on any of the Pod websites out there.
If you are starting to sell with the focus of putting yourself out there and
build a following at a low financial investment and risk, you are getting in
for the right reason.
Ø
Redbubble
like other websites operating on the same model are a great place to have an
online portfolio.
If you promote yourself, and your work, you’ll be
able to build a following, and momentum to then start either selling more art
on the platform, or start selling on your own elsewhere.
